How to Make Render Using the Right Render Mix Ratio

The following render mix designs can all be successfully applied by versatile the 3 Jet Combo Spray Unit including decorative, structural and fire-protective coatings

Standard Render Mixes for Plastering Render

  • Standard Render – 1 cement 3 sand   add up to 1 lime to improve workability
  • Base Coat – Clay Bricks – 1 cement/Lime   5 fine-washed sand
  • Base Coat – Concrete Blocks – 1 cement/Lime 3 fine-washed sand
  • Top Coat – 1 cement/Lime 3 fine-washed sand

Panel and Dome Construction

  • 1 cement 2 fine-washed sand

FerroCement

  • 1 cement 2 fine-washed sand

GRC – Glass Reinforced Concrete popularly known as GRC or GFRC in the US.

The formulation for GRC product is a mixture of 40% Cement, 40% Fine Sand, 0.4% Plasticizers, 4% Polymers, 11.5%-14% Water, and 3.5%-5% of AR Glass Fiber.

Carving Plaster

  • 1 Portland Cement – 5 sand  –  .25 S Hydrated Lime
  • 3 cubic feet of loose damp 60 mesh sand 4 5-gallon buckets

Light-Weight Carving Plaster

Best carving plaster is made using crushed perlite in place of sand. Various different consistencies and hardness can be accomplished by varying the ratio’s of sand or crushed perlite. The finer the crushed perlite the finer the carved surface.
